What We’re Eating Wednesday: Homemade Chocolate

Recipes

Who doesn’t love chocolate? How about a yummy, rich, sugar-free, peanut buttery chocolate?! Pretty much everyone at Health Essentials experiments and makes their own unique delicious chocolate. One of the perks of the job is getting to try everyone’s creations! (When they feel like sharing).

Brady definitely took the cake..er..chocolate on this homemade delight today! It’s a rich dark chocolate with peanut butter powder filling mmmmm was so delicious.

He was nice enough to share the recipe too!

Ingredients: (all measurements are approximate)

12 tbsp – Cacao Paste (Organic Traditions)

10 tbsp – Cacao Butter (Harmonic Arts)

1tbsp –  Honey (Harmonic Arts)

1tbsp –  Xylitol (Xyla) – Grind in coffee grinder first

2 tsp – Vanilla Powder (Harmonic Arts)

2 tsp –  Maca Root Powder (Organic Traditions)

1/2 tsp – Cinnamon (Harmonic Arts)

Peanut Butter powder for filling (Just Great Stuff Organic PB powder)

Melt the cacao paste and cacao butter in a double boiler and stir in honey, xylitol, vanilla powder, maca powder, and cinnamon. Place mixture in moulds and chill in freezer until hard. Mix as much peanut butter powder as desired with water to make filling and pour over hardened chocolate. Then pour remaining chocolate mixture on top of  peanut butter filling. Chill in freezer until hard.

It is wrapped in our local Abeego natural food wrap as well! Made with beeswax, jojoba oil, and tree resin. An amazing alternative to plastic wrap.
